A VoIP GSM gateway (also referred to as a GSM Terminal adapter or simply a GSM adapter) is a device that can be used to bridge the GSM network to a VoIP network. Devices range in size from a single port (meaning one conversation is supported) to large gateways with hundreds of ports capacity) and require one or more GSM SIM (subscriber identity module) chips, as well as a connection to the Internet. Our SIP Reseller platform is fully compatible with any VoIP GSM Gateway that is compliant with the SIP protocol. This means that you can provide calling card service in areas where DIDs are not available, by simply installing a GSM gateway device. The GSM SIM card replaces the need for a physical DID channel. Users of the system simply dial the phone number associated with the GSM SIM card that is inserted into the GSM gateway, and the call will be automatically forwarded to the calling card IVR over the Internet using the VoIP SIP protocol. |
The image below depicts a typical SIP GSM gateway installation using the Portech MV370 single port adapter. This adapter, and any other that is SIP compatible, can be configured to connect to our SIP Reseller platform in just a few minutes.
